Coercive Psychiatry Is Dehumanizing

Medicalizing problems in living is dehumanizing and unsurprisingly motivates suicide behaviors.

Suicide should be respected as a civil and human right for all adults when it is done in private.

Read the books Suicide Prohibition and Psychiatric Slavery by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz.

Psychiatry medicalizes problems in living, like financial problems and pretends that they are medical problems with the brain. Therefore it is not a surprise that the suicide rate keeps increasing as more and more prescriptions are written for supposedly antidepressant drugs. The book Anatomy of an Epidemic gives an excellent in depth analysis of some these dynamics.

Sanists Medicalize Suicide

Sanists medicalize suicide. Sanists justify, using sanism, the state sanctioned use of psychiatric coercion, force, and confinement on law abiding individuals. Sanism is not much better than racism.

Sanists support psychiatric slavery (earning money from psychiatric coercion). Suicide should be respected as a civil and human right for all adults when it is done in private.

Sanists support the continued utilization of nonconsensual psychiatry on law abiding citizens. Sanists operated under the assumption that anything that could happen after death, is objectively worse for an individual who is alive and wants to leave Earth for their own personal reasons. This is implicitly a theological belief, and if we want to live in an authentically secular society, then suicide must be respected as a civil and human right for all adults.

It will be good if we can reduce suicides to zero using persuasion, reason, and kindness.

Towards Reducing Suicides

Once suicide is respected as a civil and human right for all adults when it is done in private, then adults will be able to have open and honest conversations about suicide in private without fear of being victimized and traumatized by psychiatric coercion and confinement. There will be more opportunities to utilize persuasion, reason, and kindness to reduce suicides. Then we can potentially see a real significant reduction of suicides over the long term. Psychiatric coercion will never reduce suicides to zero. Authenticity peaceful persuasion is our best hope.

Suicide and Psychiatric Confinement

Adults who say they want to die either actually want to die or they are lying.

If someone says they are hungry, do you tell them that they actually don't feel hungry?

If suicide is respected as a civil and human right for adults when it is done in private, then adults can finally have open and honest conversations about suicide. We will have more opportunities to use persuasion, reason, and kindness to reduce suicides to zero, a worthwhile goal indeed.

I'm all for helping adults who want help. Psychiatric confinement involves locked doors. Some individuals stay in psychiatric units voluntarily. Many don't.

Only consensual psychiatry should be legal.

Do Not Literalize Metaphors

There is no such thing as mental illness, except in a metaphorical sense. The same is true for mental health. It does not literally exist.

The literal ideas of mental health and mental illness are literalized metaphors. Literalizing metaphors has undesirable unintended consequences.

Thinking in terms of subjective emotional well being and subjective emotional distress is much more linguistically accurate and useful.

Mental Illness Does Not Literally Exist

If there is no such thing as mental illness, then there is no such thing as mental health either.

The mind is abstract so it cannot be literally sick nor literally well. It only can in a metaphorical sense. Don't literalize metaphors, because that will have unintended consequences.

As a being with emotions, you can experience distressing emotions and feelings. You can experience emotional well being. You can have bad habits that are emotionally distressing. You can experience misery and personal tragedy. You can engage in behaviors that are helpful or harmful to your self.

Is medicalizing emotions, thoughts, and behaviors authentically helpful to anyone? Ultimately, probably not in most all circumstances.

Psychiatric Drugs and Placebo Effects

Possibly most psychiatric drugs rely heavily on placebo effects. Psychiatric drugs might actually worsen longterm outcomes in many circumstances.

The book Anatomy of an Epidemic by Robert Whitaker explores how pharmaceutical companies hide a significant number of studies that show their drugs don't really work and selectively publicizes the ones that show that psychiatric drugs may be effective. Don't believe it? Read the book.

Suicide Prohibitions

Suicide prohibitions have a chilling effect on free speech. Suicide prohibitions prevent adults from being able to have open and honest conversations about suicide in private since nonconsensual psychiatry is legal in many circumstances. It will be good if we can reduce suicides to zero. Read the book Suicide Prohibition by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz.

Suicide and Theology

We supposedly live in a secular democracy.

The point (at least one point)  of medicalizing suicide is to adhere to Judeo-Christian values without actually saying we are.

According to many versions of Christianity, those who engage in suicide may go to Hell, or at least not in Heaven.

Suicide prohibitions inherently enforce implicit theological beliefs that what ever happens after death for those engaging in suicide is always worse than any current or future on Earth.

If we want to actually live in a secular democracy then suicide needs to be respected as a civil and human right for all adults when it is done in private.

Psychiatric Drugs and Violence

It is indeed important to examine the correlation between psychiatric drugs and violence.

Psychiatric drugs don't cause violence. To state that psychiatric drugs make someone be violent is like believing in demon possession.

According to psychiatrist Thomas Szasz, there are no causes of crimes, there are only reasons for crimes.

People can have reasons for not engaging in crimes/violence. People can have reasons for engaging in crimes/violence.

The biological psychiatry paradigm communicates explicit and implicit messages to reciever of psychiatric services. Perhaps these implicit and explicit messages increase reasons for people wanting to engage in illegal violence, and/or decrease reasons for not being willing to engage in illegal violence.

There appears to definitely be a correlation between psychiatric drugs and violence.

Implicit messages of biological psychiatry can include ideas like lack of responsibility. You are not responsible for regulating you're emotions, drugs are. We can exert a decent amount of control over our emotions by changing our thinking and behaviors.

Psychiatric lies, psychiatric dogma, and psychiatric propaganda are damaging our society. The damage will continue until enough people realize Truth about psychiatry, and are able to view clearly and understand the problem fully.

Only consensual psychiatry should be legal. The insanity defense should be outlawed. Check out books by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz if you want to learn more.

Psychiatric Abuse

Psychiatry inflicts harm in subtle and also not so subtle ways. Psychiatric abuse needs to be outlawed. Psychiatric slavery needs to be outlawed. Psychiatric coercion needs to be outlawed. The insanity defense needs to be banned and outlawed. Suicide needs to be respected as a civil and human right for all adults when it is done in private. Read the books Suicide Prohibition and Psychiatric Slavery by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz.

Szaszian Ethics

In a college class we were assigned to read Szasz's essay, The Myth of Mental Illness.

In a graduate level ethics class we were shown a video of a debate between Thomas Szasz and Albert Ellis.

Read books by Szasz or choose to remain entranced by psychiatric lies and propaganda.

Psychiatry medicalizes misery and tragedy. Misery and tragedy are real.

We should offer adults copious amounts of help and kindness to alleviate misery.

According to Thomas Szasz, psychiatric coercion is medicalized terrorism. According to Szasz, civil commitment and the insanity defense form the foundations of psychiatric slavery.

Only consensual psychiatry should be legal.

I hope all individuals can experience authentic happiness and authentic peace. We should not use cruel compassion in the form of nonconsensual psychiatry in order to try and help adults who state they do not want help.

It will be good if we can reduce suicides to zero. We probably will not see a significant reduction in suicides until suicide is respected as a civil and human right for adults. We should use copious amounts of persuasion, reason, and kindness to reduce suicides. Psychiatric coercion, force, and, confinement probably have too many unintended consequences to be authentically useful to society.

Suicide prohibitions prevent adults from being able to have open and honest conversations about suicide in private without being concerned about potentially being locked up in a psychiatric unit.

Pseudo Medical Cults

Psychiatry is effectively a pseudo medical cult. It engages in forced conversion using civil commitment and psychiatric holds. It relies on implicit theological posits in order to help justify suicide prohibitions. Psychiatry is effectively the secular religion of most democratic secular nations. I support the separation of church and state. I also support the separation of psychiatry and state.

Medicalizing Misery

Psychiatry medicalizes misery, tragedy, and social problems. Read books that psychiatrist Thomas Szasz wrote like The Myth of Mental Illness. The mind is intangible and can only be metaphorically sick, just as a sick joke is not literally sick. Humans can be miserable though. Misery and tragedy can be real. Psychiatry profits from medicalizing misery and social problems. Only consensual psychiatry should be legal.

Psychiatric Propaganda

I hope that no suicides happen.

We should use persuasion, reason, and kindness to reduce suicides, not psychiatric coercion, force, and confinement.

Psychiatrists medicalize human misery and tragedy.

To call psychiatry real medicine is a lie. Real doctors treat real diseases that can be objectively diagnosed and objectively cured.

It is important that people are provided with Truth when confronted by psychiatric propaganda.

Psychiatry

Read the book Psychiatric Slavery by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz. There is no objective ways to diagnose psychiatric disorders. Psychiatrists are for the most part the only type doctors who can treat patients involuntarily. The Psychiatric Survivor Movement exists for a reason. Psychiatric abuse should be outlawed. Suicide should be respected as a civil and human right for adults when it is done in private. Read the book Suicide Prohibition by Szasz. Only consensual psychiatry should remain legal.

Psychiatric Disability

Downs syndrome is an objectively identifiable genetic abnormality, as I understand it.

There is no objective medical test to diagnose depression. "Clinical Depression" is medicalized misery. We should offer people copious amounts of help; it should not be forced upon them.

According to psychiatrist Thomas Szasz, psychiatric coercion is medicalized terrorism.

I recommend you read or at least read a summary (like in the Amazon description or sample) of the book Anatomy of an Epidemic by Robert Whitaker.

Reducing Suicides

I don't think that an actual significant reduction in suicides will take place until suicide is respected as a civil and human right for adults, when it's done in private. Suicide prohibitions prevent adults from being able to have open and honest conversations about suicide in private without being concerned about potentially being locked up in a psychiatric unit. Read the book Suicide Prohibition by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz to learn more.
